Document Legalization
Document Legalization in Singapore - Certification Explained
Certification involves verifying the authenticity and legal validity of documents through consular authorities. This is often more complex than notarization.
Types of Certification
Single Certification: The applicant submits the notarized document to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the destination country for certification.
Double Certification: The notarized document is submitted to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, then forwarded to the destination country’s embassy for secondary certification.
Certification Procedures
Official Document Authentication: Valid notarized documents are submitted to the embassy or Ministry of Foreign Affairs. For double authentication, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs authenticates the document first, followed by the embassy in China.
Unofficial Document Authentication: This involves triple authentication by a Singapore lawyer, the Singapore Law Society, and the relevant embassy.
